Hospice of Southern Kentucky has been a member of the South Central Kentucky Community for over 40 years. We are your neighbors, friends, caregivers and family members. With a completely local staff and group of volunteers, our dedicated team members live, play, shop and work in every corner of our service area.
Family Support Volunteers
Family Support Volunteers offer support and companionship for patients and their families in their home, assisted living residence or skilled nursing facility. Volunteers also provide support to the patients at the Hospice House, providing companionship for patients and much needed respite for caregivers. These special volunteers are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, bringing joy to patients and easing the burdens of family members.
Administrative Volunteers help with office support, including filing, answering phones, data entry, mailings, computer tasks or other clerical activities.
Pet Partner Volunteers
Pet Partner Volunteers visit patients to offer animal assisted therapy. Pet Partners must be certified and insured, along with having completed training with an organization such as Therapy Dogs International. All Pet Partner volunteers must also complete hospice family support volunteer training.
Hospice of Southern Kentucky pairs trained Family Support Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients who are Veterans. Volunteers who have served in the military have the unique ability to related and connect with our Veteran patients and their families, sharing a common language, code of conduct, and sense of humor.
Complementary Therapy Volunteers
Complementary Therapy Volunteers offer patients their expertise in massage therapy, reiki, music, hair styling, nail tech, or art. Massage Therapists are licensed in their specialty, carry insurance, and are professionally trained for their role with hospice patients. Hair dressers and nail technicians are also licensed in their specialties.
